The game UI

The game UI has three sections:

1. The scoreboard section
2. The button section and
3. The 4x4 grid section

The scoreboard section

The first two boxes in the scoreboard display the live score and the maximum score, respectively. These are the sum of the calories of the Cupcakes. The next two boxes of the scoreboard section display the name of the maximum Cupcake of the present and the past games.

The name of the Cupcakes used in the game are:

The button section

The button section contains the New Game and the Undo button. The New Game button starts a new game every time you press it. For every wrong move, you can press the Undo button to go to the previous state of the game. You can Undo at most two times in a row.

The grid section

The grid section is a 4x4 grid on which 16 positions are available. You have to swipe on this grid to play the game if you are using a touch screen device.

Gameplay of 2048 Cupcakes

The game starts with two Cupcakes of number 2 or 4. The game works in a way that the new Cupcake will be of number 2 for the 90% of times, and for the 10% of times, it’ll be of number 4.

The controls of the game are very simple. To play the game, you need to slide the Cupcakes in up, down, left, and right direction. If you are using a laptop or desktop, use the arrow keys of your keyboard to slide the Cupcakes. In terms of touch screen devices, swipe the screen in your desired direction. A swipe or an arrow key press counts as a move.

With every move, a new Cupcake of number 2 or 4 generates randomly in an available position on the 4x4 grid.

As you move the Cupcakes in any direction by pressing the arrow keys or swiping the screen, all the Cupcakes will move to that particular direction as far as possible. If two adjacent tiles with the same Cupcakes collide with each other during the movement, they will merge into a bigger Cupcake with a number equal to the sum of the two Cupcakes.

If you manage to combine two Cupcakes of number 2, they will merge into a Cupcake of number 4. Merging two Cupcakes of number 4 will produce a Cupcake of number 8 and so on. Your goal is to reach the Cupcake of number 2048.

Try to collide as many same Cupcakes as you can. By merging the upgraded Cupcakes one after another, you can get to the Cupcake of number 2048. The moment you get to the Cupcake of number 2048, you win the game.

Try to merge multiple Cupcakes with a single move. Doing this will create more positions for the new Cupcakes to appear, which will make the game easier to play. The game ends if no space is available to generate a new Cupcake.
